Ke’Vonte Hurts scored 15 points and Natron Wortham had 12 as the Lufkin Panthers kept pace in the District 16-5A race with a 57-49 win over the Hallsville Bobcats on the road Tuesday night.

Other Lufkin scorers were Jerrin Thompson (8), Jackson Parks (7), Christian Reggie (6), Jordan Moore (3) and Torrance Agnew and Jaylon Young (2).

Lufkin (5-1 in district) will close out the first round of district at 7:30 Friday as it hosts the Marshall Mavericks.

Lufkin girls 59, Hallsville 22 — Alexis Hood poured in 21 points and Mikayla Bailey had 15 as the Lufkin Lady Panthers remained perfect in District 16-5A action with a 59-22 win over the Hallsville Lady Bobcats in Hallsville Tuesday night.

Kurstyn Harden added 8 points for Lufkin and Aniya Cottrell had 6.

Other Lufkin scorers were Camryn Beam (4), Akyshia Cottrell (3), Shariah Davis (2) and Je’Dayshia Runnels (1).

Lufkin (22-5, 8-0) will return home for district action at 6 p.m. Friday night as it hosts Marshall.

Central girls 49, Corrigan-Camden 25 — Madison Morehouse scored 16 points and Madison Shaver had 15 to lead the Central Lady Bulldogs to a convincing 49-25 win over the Corrigan-Camden Lady Bulldogs in Corrigan Tuesday night.

Other Central scorers were Kaylee Frazier (8), Preslie Turney (6) and K.K. Harris (4).

Central will host Hemphill at 6 p.m. Friday.

Hemphill girls 41, Pineywoods Community Academy 25 — The Hemphill Lady Hornets picked up a 41-25 win over the Pineywoods Community Academy Lady Wolves on Tuesday night.

PCA scorers were Autymn Harrell (9), Mercedes Winn and Zoey Kelley (5), Bella Stanley (4) and Trenity Johnson (2).

The Lady Wolves will host Diboll at 6 p.m. Friday at Angelina College’s Shands Gym.

Hemphill boys 48, Pineywoods Community Academy 36 — Kellen Kruk scored 20 points, but the Pineywoods Community Academy Timberwolves dropped a 48-36 decision to the Hemphill Hornets on Tuesday night.

Other PCA scorers were Fabian Del Toro (10), JaBrailen Duffield (3), Evan Pennington (2) and Jordan Morrison (1).

PCA will host Diboll at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Angelina College’s Shands Gym.
